AUDITION CALL

Auditions for a new devised work by Everybody Cool Lives Here,
Directed by Isobel MacKinnon.

Everybody Cool Lives Here is looking for an ensemble cast of 5 performer/devisors for a new work in development to be premiered in Wellington from 27th of August – 10th of September 2016. The cast will be made up of a combination of emerging and professional actors with and without intellectual or learning differences.

The audition process for this work will consist of a 3-day workshop, held in Wellington from Wednesday 2nd December – Friday 4th of December 2015, 9.30am- 3pm daily.

The audition workshop will be a time for play and exploration with other auditionees, and will involve embracing the creating and devising process, using physicality, character and text to make some small theatre pieces.

Please note, successful applicants invited to audition will be required the whole time.


WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE?
If you are successful in securing a role, applicants will then be required to be available for all of the following dates:

Development Workshops
29th April- 1st May 2016

Rehearsals
1 August -26th August 2016,
4 week full time (Monday-Friday)

Season
27th August- 10th September 2016, (13 shows)

Everybody Cool Lives Here create work through a process that includes improvisation, experimentation and empowering performers with a difference to embrace their creative voices. Everybody Cool Lives Here work in a way in which whanaungatanga – a sense of kinship and family connection is at held at the core of our kaupapa. Everybody Cool Lives Here strives to assist in the empowerment of marginalized New Zealanders through supporting them to share their stories in live performance to challenge audience perceptions.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Be open to new ideas and enjoy working in an ensemble.
  • Be creative, adventurous, experimental, and bold.
  • Be able to share ideas and feelings with collaborators.
  • Be professional in attitude and commitment at all times.
  • Be considerate, respectful, empathic and tolerant of difference.

To strengthen a sense of whanaungatanga within the company participants will be expected to spend time together at breaks sharing food and getting to know each other out of the working space. Participants will be expected to support each other in ways that may not be expected in other production companies. This could vary from supporting each other to learn lines to supporting someone in purchasing their lunch.
